My Experience with The Face Shop Mango Seed Silk Moisturizing Eye Cream:

This product comes in a heavy glass jar packaging which gives it an appearance that’s comparable to its more expensive counterparts. Like its expensive counterparts, the product is stored in a smaller plastic jar inside the glass container. This is a ruse used by most makeup companies to give a fancy, value-for-your-money appearance to their products. Skin care industry can be a little overwhelming these days and each brand offers what other brands claim to offer. Most of the skin care products contain “never before used” or “heard of” skin care ingredients. This eye cream by The Face Shop contains mango extract, mango seed butter extract and adenosine which offer perfect hydration to delicate skin under the eyes.

Adenosine is a yeast-derived ingredient that functions as a good soothing and skin-restoring agent. It has proven anti-wrinkle benefits due to its ability to energize skin’s surface so that it looks smoother and younger. So, it is a good ingredient to have in an eye cream. Mango butter extract is making headway into skin care industry due to its beneficial properties. It is a natural source of vitamin A, it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and increasing skin’s overall youthful look. It treats dry skin, dry patches, flakiness, and even sensitive skin can benefit from daily application of mango butter, which goes to work deeply moisturizing.

Illusion packaging aside, this product comes in a generous size jar and will last a while as an eye cream. It is viscous to touch and not as spreadable as one expects regular moisturizer to be, but still works fine and gets easily absorbed into the skin. I have been applying it every night as part of my night skin care routine and I am not so sure about the “fine line reducing” claim made by the product, but my under-eye area does appear brighter and also it fares well underneath makeup. So far I am happy with this eye cream and will continue to use it.

• The under-eye area appears brighter and it holds well underneath makeup without excessive creasing.

Cons of The Face Shop Mango Seed Silk Moisturizing Eye Cream:

• Availability can be an issue for some but some Korean websites do ship to India as well.
• The website does not disclose the ingredient list in English and the one on packaging is barely legible.
• Packaging is not travel friendly.
