Staying in a polluted city can make your skin dull. My skin becomes oily these days after I come back from college. It has started showing acne problems too. It appears so dull and needs immediate skin treatment. The sweltering hot weather outside has caused skin tanning as well. My Experience with Jovees Detoxifying Charcoal Face Masque:

Packaging: First things first, the products comes housed in a cylindrical grey coloured tub with a grey coloured regular screw-on cap. The cap closes securely in place. Initially, the product inside the tub comes covered by a silver sheath to prevent tampering with the product. The product details, brand name and other details related to this product is mentioned in white fonts on the body of the tub. The tub size is medium and you can easily carry it everywhere. Coming to the quantity, Jovees is offering a good quantity of 100 g at this price value. I have seen and compared other charcoal masques in the market and they usually offer this quantity at a much higher price. So, this is quite affordable.

One thing that I did not like about this product is that it comes in a tub like form. You would have to use fingers to take product out which is not good and unhygienic. I wish it comes in a tube like form. The packaging is very simple and nothing fancy. Overall, I like the packaging as it is sturdy and travel-friendly.

Color and Fragrance: The color of this product is pale grey. This is a clay based masque which is suitable for all skin types. Made from a rich blend of coffee and activated bamboo extracts, the ingredient list is intriguing. Coffee has rich antioxidants which benefit the skin in so many ways. It removes dullness and helps in fighting acne problems. Activated charcoal on the other hand, removes dirt, impurities and excess oil and thoroughly cleanses the face. It helps in bringing a refinement to the skin complexion. This masque is safe to be used on all skin types. But before that, do a patch test and see if it causes any tingling sensation or discomfort. I did a patch test on my arm to see if it suited me. It has a weird chalk powder kind of smell which is not overpowering to the senses. So, it did not bother me much.

Consistency: This masque has a thick creamy consistency. It does contain tiny granules which do not feel harsh on the skin. The texture of this masque is quite smooth, so it spreads on the skin easily and evenly. It does not feel heavy on the skin. Only a small quantity is good enough to cover the entire face. However, this masque does not dry out the skin. So, as long as you keep this masque on your face, you have to be careful because, it gets transferred on coming in contact with objects.

How I Use it: Generally, with face masques, instead of using fingers into the tub to take out the product which I think is not very good hygiene-wise, it is better if the packaging comes in form of a tube. In this case, since it comes in the form of a tub, I use a spatula to dig out product and keep it in a bowl. In this way, the inside product stays fresh and neat. After this, I use a face masque applying brush to cover up my face entirely with the product. I apply this masque on the full face, but away from the eyes. I keep this masque for 20-30 minutes depending on the results I wish. Following this step, I wash my face with cold water and pat it dry. This masque does not come off easily just by normally washing your face with water. It clings to the face and forms a sticky layer. This is because it is clay-based. I use wet cotton to slowly remove all the leftover residue of this masque. If you have extremely dry skin and want extra nourishment, you can also follow up with a face moisturiser to make your skin look more hydrated and healthy.

Results: I have been using this mask for over a couple of weeks. Now, I shall talk about the results that I saw after using it. The masque felt quite relaxing on my skin and did not sting my skin. It did not cause any breakouts also. It suited my occasionally oily skin quite well. My skin woes and acne problems trouble me occasionally, so I have to incorporate charcoal masques in my skin care routine which will purify my skin from within and will prevent further aggravating of acne problems. This charcoal masque did a great job for me. It unclogged the pores and removed excess oil from my skin which is the root cause of acne. It also arrested tough dirt and impurities which do not go away with normal cleansing or scrubbing.

The instant feeling that you will get after using this is a truly softer, smoother and suppler skin. My cheeks were buttery soft and it felt so good to touch them. It improved my skin texture and also caused a refinement in the size of the skin pores. After using this masque, my face looked clearer, brighter and more radiant. It controlled the oil concentration and gave a matte effect without drying out my skin. So, this is a great masque for dry skin beauties also. It acted as a deep cleansing masque and made my face squeaky clean. The results were quite visible from the very first use and my face looked fresh. The dullness in my complexion due to accumulation of dirt faded away. Layers of dirt and dust get piled up when you travel everyday in a metropolitan city. My complexion got a few shades darker due to this. I felt refreshed post using it and I saw a visible change in my skin complexion. If you have tough skin tan, then this masque is also beneficial for removing tan from your face. In case of skin tanning, do not expect quick results, but it does show effect gradually.

I would advise you not to use this masque more than twice a week because, it would mean an overdose of oil absorption and rendering your face dry. Currently, I am using this masque twice a week for best results. The glowing effect of this masque is not very long lasting. It stays for about 3-4 days after which you would need to use this again. I loved the results that I found after using this charcoal masque from Jovees.

Overall: I loved this product and this is very good charcoal based clay masque which does its job well. I like the overall feeling of having a stress free, bright, soft and deeply cleansed face. The price does not feel hefty on the pockets too. The results just don’t stay for very long; otherwise, this works just fine.
